- Mary Woodliffe appears in the 1841 census (age 13) living with Thomas and Frances Woodliffe together
with George Woodliffe (1776)(father of Thomas) . George's wife had died the previous year and it is assumed that
he and Mary were lodging with the family. There is no other record of this Mary other than as mother of George
Woodliffe b1856 who was illegitimate and living with Thomas & Elizabeth Brumpton in 1861 and 1871. Elizabeth
Brumpton was Elizabeth Woodliffe b 1818 daughter of the above George (1776) and it is not within reasonable doubt
she was looking after her nephew in the absence of his mother.
